History 1966-present
On 1 July 1966 No 10 Squadron reformed at RAF Fairford with Vickers VC10 C.1 for an air transport squadron role. The unit moved to RAF Brize Norton in 1967.
In 1993 the VC10 C.1 fleet was modified to C.1 (K)s to allow Air to Air Refueling AAR operations as well as VIP transport and aeromedical evacuations. The rationalization of the VC10 force led to No 10 Squadrons C.1 (K) being transferred to No. 101 Squadron following the withdrawal of their K.2s in 2003. No. 10 Squadron was disbanded in October 2005.
No. 10 Squadron was reformed at RAF Brize Norton on 1 July 2011 to operate the RAFs new Airbus Voyager transport tanker aircraft. The first Voyager arrived on 5 April 2012 with transport operations commencing on 12 May 2012. Its first air-to-air refueling operation was for Tornado GR4 aircraft on 20 May 2013.
No. 10 Squadron has regularly deployed in the transport and air refueling role for Operation Shader since September 2014. It has also taken part in Exercises and competitions including Red Flag in the United States and Pitch Black in Australia.
This patch dates from 2011.
