The Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the Bahrain Defence Force and has played an important role in Gulf regional security. Established as Bahrain Defence Force Air Wing BDFAW on 8 May 1976. It was renamed Bharain Amiri Air Force BAAF in 1987. Subsequently BAAF was redesignated the Royal Bharain Air Force in 2002 when Bharain elected to became a kingdom.
Operating modern fighter, helicopter and transport aircraft, RBAF supports national and regional defence, maritime security, air patrol and multinational operations.

The Imperial Iranian Air Force (IIAF) was one of the most advanced and powerful air forces in the Middle East. Prior to the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the IIAF developed into a highly modern force equipped with advanced Western aircraft.
Establishing on 25 February 1925 with British and German aircraft the IIAF grew but was overwhelmed by British and Soviet forces in 1941. However the IIAF continued to operate under the occupation.
