Fighter Air Transport Helicopter Squadron Flight Search and Rescue Flying Training Parachute
- Military Aviation began in 1913. During WWI New Zealand aircrew flew as part of the Royal Flying Corps the Royal Naval Air Service and the Australian Flying Corps.
- New Zealand Permanent Air Force was activated as part of the Army on 14 June 1923.
- Became independant as the Royal New Zealand Air Force on 1 April 1937.
- WWII fought as part of the RAF in Europe and North Africa. Operated in the Pacific as RNZAF
- As part of the Cold War, RNZAF personnel undertook combat missions embedded with USAF RAF and RAAF during the Korean War. Had 41 Squadron attached to RAF for the Malayan Emergency.
- Royal New Zealand Air Force provided trasport and supply tasking for the Vietnam War and provided helicopter pilots for RAAF 9 Squadron combat operations in Vietnam
- RNZAF provided periodic support for operations in Afghanistan with P-3K Orions and C-130 Hercules. Thoughout the Royal New Zealand Air Force has provided humanitarian assistance and support following incidents and disasters in the region.
