16 Airborne Divisional Lincoln Independent Company The Parachute Regiment was activated at Lincoln on 24 May 1950 to provide the pathfinder element to 16 Airborne Division TA.

The Company was redesignated 16 Lincoln Independent Parachute Company The Parachute Regiment on 1 October 1956 when 16 Airborne Division TA was reduced to a Brigade and renamed 44 Independent Parachute Brigade Group TA.

The Company was disbanded and immediately reconstituted in the Territorial Army Volunteer Reserve TAVR on 1 April 1967 as 16 Lincoln Independent Volunteer Parachute Company The Parachute Regiment as a TAVR category II unit with a NATO role in support of the British Army of the Rhine BAOR.

Reductions in UK airborne TA forces led to the disbandment of 44 Parachute Brigade Volunteers on 1 April 1978 and on the same day 16 Volunteer Independent Parachute Company The Parachute Regiment was assigned to 15 Scottish Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment and was redesignated 16 Lincoln Company 15 Scottish Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment at Lincoln with a detachment at Loughborough. The detachment at Loughborough moved to Leicester in 1981.

The Company was transferred to 4 Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment and renamed 16 Lincoln Company 4 Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment on 11 July 1984.

16 Lincoln Detachment 12 Yorkshire Company 4 Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment

The Company was absorbed by 12 Yorkshire Company 4 Para reduced in size moved to Nottingham and was renamed 16 Lincoln Detachment 12 Yorkshire Company 4 Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment on 6 April 1993.

Recce Platoon 12 Yorkshire Company 4 Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment 

The Detachment was again reduced in size and renamed Recce Platoon 12 Yorkshire Company 4 Volunteer Battalion The Parachute Regiment on 1 July 1999 losing the 16 Lincoln designation. The Recce Platoon relocated from Nottingham to 12 Yorkshire Companys base at Pudsey Leeds on 1 April 2000.
