This original Belgian Air Force 8 Squadron patch dates from the 1980s, when the squadron formed part of 3 Tactical Wing and operated the Dassault Mirage 5 as one of Belgium’s frontline NATO tactical fighter units.

Based at Bierset Air Base, 8 Squadron was equipped with the Dassault Mirage 5, a high-performance tactical strike aircraft developed from the Mirage III.
