Squadron History
10 Fighter Bomber Squadron was reactivated on 1 January 1953 at Clovis AFB New Mexico equipped with F 86 H Sabres assigned to 50 Fighter
Bomber Group and relocated to Hahn Air Base West Germany as a NATO tactical fighter squadron. The Squadron moved to Toul Rosieres Air Base France in 1956 and was redesignated 10 Tactical Fighter Squadron on 8 Jul 1958 reequipping with F 100 Super Sabre fighters.
10 TFS returned to Hahn AB West Germany in 1959 and continued defensive missions in Europe as part of the NATO forces. The Squadron transitioned to F 4 Phantom II in 1966 and F 16 Fighting Falcon in1982.
The Squadron deployed to Al Dhafra United Arab Emirates attached to 363 Tactical Fighter Wing Provisional on 28 December 1990 for Operation
Desert Shield and took part in combat operations during Operation Desert Storm. 10 TFS returning to Hahn AB on 10 May 1991. 10 TFS was inactivated on 30 September 1991 on the closure of Hahn Air Base.
The Squadron reactivated as 10 Flight Test Squadron on 1 Mar 1994 at Tinker AFB Oklahoma assigned to Oklahoma City Air Logistics Centre as a
testing and checkout squadron for B 1 Lancer B 52 Stratofortress E 3 Sentry and KC 135 Stratotanker aircraft after depot-level maintenance prior to the aircraft being returned to active service.
