Squadron History 

451 Bombardment Squadron Light was reactivated on 9 August 1947 at Reading Army Airfield Pennsylvania equipped with AT 6 Texan AT 7 Navigator and AT 11 Kansan aircraft assigned to 322 Bombardment Group as a reserve air training command squadron to provide advanced flight training. The Squadron was inactivated on 27 June 1949 due to funding reductions.  

The Squadron was reactivated as 451 Fighter Day Squadron on 1 July 1954 at Foster AFB Texas equipped initially with F 86 Sabre fighters assigned to 322 Fighter Day Group Tactical Air Command before converting to F 100 Super Sabre fighters in 1955. The Squadron deployed to Landstuhl AB West Germany on 20 September to 4 October 1956 and was inactivated on 18 November 1957. 

The Squadron was reactivated as 451 Flying Training Squadron on 1 April 1973 at Mather AFB California equipped with T 29 Flying Classroom and T 43 Gator training aircraft providing undergraduate navigator training for USAF USN USMC and allied Air Forces assigned to 323 Flying Training Wing Air Training Command. The Squadron was reassigned to 323 Operations Group on 15 December 1991 and was inactivated on 31 May 1993.  

451 Flying Training Squadron  reactivated on 2 October 2009 at Naval Air Station Pensacola Fla assigned to 479 Flying Training Group equipped with modified T 1A Jayhawk aircraft to train Combat Systems Officers CSOs.
