1730 PRS Pararescue Squadron was activated on 24 July 1987 at Eglin AB assigned to 1720 Special Tactics Group STGP to provide specially trained pararescue pj personnel and teams for Search and Rescue SAR Combat Search and Rescue CSAR Combat Rescue CR including recovery of aerospace materials and to support special operations to USAF Rescue Squadrons.

Detachment 4 Det 4 was based at RAF Woodbridge to provide PJ Pararescue specialist to 67 ARRS. The Squadron was deactivated in 1990.
