History

1972 Communications Squadron deployed to Da Nang AB Vietnam in 1965 and provided maintenance of the mobile radar navigation aids and air to ground communications Da Nang base telephone system known as the Sunshine Telephone Company all communications center and cryptographic systems the undersea cable terminal at Marble Mountain and communications support at Monkey Mountain. The Squadron also provided maintenance detachments to Chu Lai Phu Bai Dong Ha and Quang Tri.

The Squadron continued to support the ground and air war in Military Region One until deactivation in 1973.

1972 Communications Squadron was reactivated at Eglin AB in 1973 on the renaming of 1920 Communications Squadron.
