The Celestial Hussars aerobatic display team was established in 1994 from the 237 Guards Proskurov Aircraft Demonstration Centre based at the Kubinka Air Base. Originally the team was to display with three different aircraft the Su-24M Su-22 and Su-25 but difficulties in display support of the three aircraft types led to the team adopting four Su-25 ground attack aircraft for displays with an additional aircraft as spare.

The Celestial Hussars disbanded in 1997.
