Squadron History A 10 Warthog
104 Tactical Fighter Squadron is the fighter element of the composite fighter and tactical airlift 175 Tactical Fighter Group Maryland Air National Guard ANG and requipped with brand new A 10A Thunderbolt II ground support attack aircraft in 1979 at Martin State Airport Baltimore renamed Warfield Air National Guard Base in 1982. The Squadron was redesignated 104 Fighter Squadron on 15 Mar 1992 with the Group renamed 175 Fighter Wing.
104 Fighter Squadron formed into 104 Expeditionary Fighter Squadron for deployment to Bagram Air Base Afghanistan from January to June 2003 where it flew strikes against Taliban and al Qaeda forces and earned the distinction of being the longest deployed Air National Guard fighter squadron at Bagram. The Squadron upgraded to A 10C Thunderbolt II in 2007.
