Squadron History

495 Tactical Fighter Squadron was activated at RAF Lakenheath England on 1 April 1977 with F-111F Aardvarks to join 492 493 and 494 TFSs of 48 Tactical Fighter Wing to function as a replacement training unit for the other three fighter squadrons. On 1 October 1991 the Squadron
was re-designated 495 Fighter Squadron with 48 Tactical Fighter Wing becoming 48 Fighter Wing.

495 FS was inactivated on 13 December 1991 with the retirement of the F-111Fs at RAF Lakenheath.
