With the imminent inactivation of SAC the Squadron was redesignated 922 Reconnaissance Squadron on 31 March 1992 reassigned to 55 Operations Group and relocated to RAF Mildenhall responsible for Offutt AFB based RC 135 reconnaissance aircraft deployed to RAF Mildenhall for European recon operations as the 922d Reconnaissance Squadron until 1994.

922 Reconnaissance Squadron was inactivated on 30 June 1994.

Under the Expeditionary Air Force concept the inactive Squadron was assigned to Air Combat Command converted to provisional status and redesignated 922 Expeditionary Reconnaissance Flight on 5 October 2007 to be activated and inactivated as needed. 922 Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron was activated on 2 February 2010 at San Isidro Air Base Dominican Republic assigned to 474 Air Expeditionary Group for Operation Unified Response the relief mission for the earthquakes in Haiti.
