History   

763 Expeditionary Reconnaissance Squadron ERS was activated on 1 October 1998 at Prince Sultan AB Saudi Arabia equipped with RC 135 Rivet Joint electronic recon aircraft on the redesignation of 4407 Reconnaissance Squadron Provisional to provide deployed electronic intelligence missions in support of operations over Iraq following the implementation of the Expeditionary Air Force concept. Crews Electronic Warfare Officers EWOs cryptological operators airborne systems engineers intelligence officers and maintenance support personnel are provided on TDY deployments from 55 Reconnaissance Wing Offutt AB operational Squadrons. 763 ERS undertook missions monitoring Iraqi movements during Operation Southern Watch and the resulting combat strikes. 

The Squadron relocated to Al Udeid Qatar and expanded its operations to include Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom Afghanistan in 2003 and Libya in 2011 with missions using Souda Bay Crete.
