Squadron History

Following disbandment in 1945 313 Fighter Squadron was reactivated as 313 TFS Tactical Fighter Squadron on 15 November 1976 at Hahn AB West Germany F-4E Phantom II. The Squadrons primary role was air defence with secondary tasking of air to ground and Tactical Nuclear Strike. In 1981 the 313th became the first unit to operate the F-16 Fighting Falcon in USAFE. The Squadron regularly deployed to Zaragoza Spain for live firing at the Bardenas-Reales range. F 16 C and D models were received in 1988.

With the end of the Cold War the decision was taken to disband 50 TFW Tactical Fighter Wing and 313 TFS was inactivated on 30 December 1991.

This patch dates from the late 1970s.
