Squadron History

4451 Tactical Squadron P Unit Grim Reapers Pacific was activated on 15 January 1983 at Nellis AB as part of 4450 Tactical Group responsible for the USAFs F 117A Stealth Fighter program. The P Unit was equipped with A 7D Corsair IIs to provide initial pilot training before F 117As were delivered following which the Squadron carried out F 117A chase tests and other weapon tests at the Nellis Range. 4451 Tactical Squadron was redesignated 416 Tactical Fighter Squadron assigned to 37 Tactical Fighter Wing on 5 October 1989
