Squadron History
95 Fighter Squadron was activated on 12 Apr 1947 at Grenier AFB NH with F-51 Mustangs under 82 Fighter Group and deployed to Ladd AFB Alaska between 4 April and 29 June 1948. The Squadron moved to Andrews AFB Maryland assigned to 4710 Air Defense Wing reequipped with F-94B Starfires and was re-designated 95 Fighter-Interceptor Squadron on 1 November 1952. The Squadron received F-86D Sabre Interceptor in 1953 and was reassigned to 85 Air Division in 1956. 95 FIS transitioned to F-102 Delta Dagger and was reassigned to Washington Air Defense
Sector in 1958.
In 1959 the Squadron reequipped with F-106 Delta Darts. The Squadron relocated to Dover AFB Delaware and was assigned to New York Air
Defense Sector to provide 24 hour alert cover to counter the threat of Soviet bomber attacks and to carry nuclear missiles. 95 FIS also provided cover with its Detachment 1 at Atlantic City International Airport New Jersey. 95 FIS was Inactivated on 31 January 1973.
The Squadron was reactivated on 1 September 1974 as 95 Fighter-Interceptor Training Squadron at Tyndall AFB FL with T-33 Shooting Stars
under 678 Air Defense Group providing pilot and weapons controller training at the Air Defence Weapons Group. The Squadron was re-designated 95 Tactical Fighter Training Squadron on 1 April 1988 replacing its T-33s with F-15 Eagles to provide combat crew training for F 15 pilots. In 1991 the Squadron was re-designated 95 Fighter Squadron as was assigned to 325th Fighter Wing continuing to provide air dominance training.
