77 Expeditionary Bomb Squadron was 77 Bomb Squadrons four ship B1 B Lancer deployment established at RAF Fairford on 1 April 1999 with a one ship B1 B detachment from 37 Bomb Squadron from 28 Bomb Wing Ellsworth AFB to join B52 H bombers and supporting KC 135 tanker aircraft forming 2 Air Expeditionary Group conducting strike missions on Serbia which had commenced on 24 March 1999 as part of Operation Noble Anvil the USAF part of Operation Allied Force. Further aircraft rotated through during the operation. 77 EBS B1 B Lancers formed strike packages with B 52H bombers attacking targets in Serbia and Kosovo. Once it became clear that Serbia had complied with the terms of the settlement and withdrawn from Kosovo the USAF units returned to CONUS with 77 Expeditionary Bomb Squadrons B 1Bs departed RAF Fairford for Ellsworth AFB on 24 June 1999.
