Squadron History

121 Tactical Fighter Squadron known as the Capital Guardians formed the fighter element of the composite fighter and tactical airlift 113 Tactical Fighter Wing District Of Columbia Air National Guard ANG based at Andrews AFB and equipped with F 105 Thunderchief fighter bombers in 1971 to continue the provision of Air Defence to Washington and the District Of Columbia. The Squadron requipped with F 4D Phantom II fighters in 1981 to and transitioned to F 16A Fighting Falcons in September 1989.
