104 Tactical Control Squadron CRP and 104 Tactical Control Flight FACP Forward Air Control Post were activated by Oregon Air National Guard at Kingsley Field Klamath Falls with federal recognition on 19 June 1971 assigned to 153 Tactical Control Group. Following a major reorganisation 104 Tactical Control Squadron CRP was inactivated and 104 Tactical Control Flight FACP was redesignated 104 Tactical Control Flight FACP H Forward Air Control Post Heavy and reassigned to 154 Tactical Control Group on 31 March 1976.

104 TCF FACP undertook Exercise Brave Shield XIV at Reecer Creek Washington in August 1976 where they were recognized as the best unit in camouflage and concealment techniques. 104 TCF were selected as the first FACP to participate Exercise Red Flag at Nellis AFB Nevada in 1977.

104 TCF undertook Exercise Brim Frost at Pedro Dome Eielsen AFB Alaska in January 1981 and relocated to North Bend AFS Radar Station vacated by active service USAF units in June 1981. 14 TCF established Operating Location AA OLAA back at Kingsley Field to provide radar control for the growing fighter training mission at the airfield.

104 TCF relocated to Coos Head ANG Station Coos Bay in March 1988 and was redesignated 104 Tactical Control Squadron in October 1988. 104 TCS continued its participation in exercises including Brim Frost in Alaska and the 114 TFTS Tactical Fighter Traing Squadrons annual Exercise Sentry Eagle. 104 Tactical Control Squadron was inactivated on 30 September 1996.
