Squadron History 

2 Strategic Squadron was reactivated on 1 January 1989 at RAF Mildenhall England assigned to 306 Strategic Wing to operate the European Tanker Task Force ETTF rotational deployed TDY KC 135 Stratotanker aircraft from US based SAC units at RAF Mildenhall.

2 Strategic Squadron was inactivated on 31 March 1992 with the inactivation of 306 Strategic Wing and responsibility for managing ETTF and its forward operating locations was transferred to the recently activated 100 Air Refuelling Wing with its ability to utilise its own 351 Air Refuelling Squadron KC 135R Stratotanker aircraft as well as rotating TDY air refuelling units from the US.
