Squadron History

801 Air Refueling Wing Provisional AREFW P formed in August 1990 at Moron AB Spain for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm to provide air refuelling support to 801 Bombardment Wing Provisional colocated at Moron AB and other coalition forces. The Wing controlled KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft with fifteen aircraft deployed from 2 Bombardment Wing Barksdale AFB Louisiana returning to the US in March 1991.
