Royal Norwegian Air Force Academy RNoAFA Luftkrigsskolen was established in 1949 at Akershus Fortress Oslo moving to Fornebu Oslo and then relocated to Trondheim in 1961.

Cadets are provided a three year Basic Officer Education Course main goal is to educate officers in the use of air power and the leadership of air operations with a combination of academic and military disciplines and practical exercises to develop military skills academic knowledge physical capacity and personal development.

The Academy also conducts research and development R&D in air power military theory foreign and security policy and leadership.
