Combat Support Wing CSW Royal Danish Air Force was activated in January 2006 at Karup Air Base to provide the necessary ground support for the operational flying units and the Army and Navy initially with Wing staff and five Squadrons and since 2010 with three Squadrons.
Eskadrille 615 Combat Communications Squadron is responsible for setting up and running communications and IT systems for the Danish Defence Forces. From its dish park at Karup Air Base the Squadron provides communications to the Danish Navys ships and bases in the North Atlantic Danish Forces in Denmark and deployed around the world. The Squadron also provides photographic services including intelligence technical and press photographs
Eskadrille 660 Force Protection Squadron provides military police security forces patrol and search dogs and since 2010 mobile medical services. The Squadrons main task is to secure aircraft and air bases. In addition Nuclear Biological and Chemical expert capability is provided which was deployed with Fennec helicopters to Iraq Kuwait and Afghanistan. The Squadron provided bodyguards and force protection deployments to Kandahar Airfield. Since 691 Squadrons transfer into 660 Squadron in 2010 Esk 660 provides medical personnel for international missions with the Air Force Army and Navy Medical Emergency Response Teams MERT and deploys fully manned and equipped mobile emergency medical clinics.
Eskadrille 680 Aerial Port Squadron is a combat support services and logistics squadron supplying other units with everything from small arms to advanced IT equipment. The Squadron prepares weapons and equipment prior to shipment load and correctly stow on aircraft and manage freight and passenger terminals including rotational responsibility at Kabul International Airport. The Squadrons Service Element has ground equipment special vehicles tankers and repair shops to service vehicles and equipment. Esk 660 Construction Team is responsible for airfield and air base construction maintenance and repair.
Eskadrille 690 Medical Air Evacuation MEDEVAC Squadron main role is to repatriate sick and wounded from international missions providing health care personnel and mobile intensive care modules fitted into C 130 J Hercules and two special ambulances which can also be carried in C 130 J Hercules. On 1 October 2009 Eskadrille 690 was reassigned from Combat Support Wing to Aalborg Transport Wing due to its close working relationship with Transport Wings C 130s.
Eskadrille 691 Medical Support Squadron provided medical personnel for international missions with the Air Force Army and Navy Medical Emergency Response Teams MERT and deployed fully manned and equipped mobile emergency medical clinics until 2010 when the Squadron was inactivated on the transfer of its tasks and personnel to 660 Squadron.
