Squadron History

441 Squadron Silver Fox reformed at RCAF Station St Hubert on 1 March 1951 equipped with Vampires and Sabres in the fighter role. The Squadron relocated to RAF North Luffenham England on 13 February 1952 under 1 Wing RCAF and moved temporarily to Zweibrücken on 21 December 1954 under 3 Wing before moving to their intended destination RCAF Station Marville Air Base France.

The Squadron inactivated on 1 September 1963 and then reactivated on 15 September 1963 at Marville AB France as 441 Strike Attack Squadron
equipped with F 104 Starfighter aircraft under 1 Wing. The Squadron relocated with 1 Wing to Canadian Forces Base Lahr Germany in April 1967 following the French decision for NATO to vacate all French bases.

In 1971 441 Strike Attack Squadron moved to CFB Baden Soellingen Germany under 4 Wing and was redesignated 441 Tactical Fighter Squadron. The Squadron disbanded in March 1986.

441 TFS was reactivated at CAFB Cold Lake Canada on 26 June 1986 under 4 Wing equipped with CF 18 Hornet tactical fighter aircraft. On 6
July 2006 441 Tactical Fighter Squadron was inactivated on its consolidated with 416 TFS to form 409 Tactical Fighter Squadron.
