Unit history 1970-1992

236 OCU Operational Conversion Unit reformed by renaming of the Maritime Operational Training Unit MOTU at RAF
St Mawgan on 1 July 1970 to train Nimrod AEW crews. The OCU carried the No 38 Reserve Squadron status for Operations in the event of war.  The Squadron disbanded on 1 October 1992 when it was renamed No 42 Reserve Squadron and located to RAF Kinloss as the Nimrod Operational Conversion Unit which itself disbanded on 26 May 2011.

This patch dates from the late 1970s.
