431 Equipment Park was activated on 10 August 1945 in Brussels assigned to 85 Group under British Air Forces of Occupation BAFO to maintain supplies to units in North West Europe. 431 EP amalgamated with 432 Equipment Disposal Depot 433 Motor Transport Disposal Unit and 313 Supply and Transport Column STC at RAF Altona on 26 April 1946 and renamed 431 Equipment Depot.  431 ED disbanded on 1 July 1950 with elements forming 401 Air Stores Park at RAF Eindhoven and 402 Air Stores Park at RAF Wildenrath.

431 Equipment Depot was reformed on 18 October 1953 on the renaming of RAF Grove Oxfordshire responsible for equipping 2 Tactical Air Force TAF. 431 ED was disbanded on 1 December 1955 with some of its stores transferred to the General Equipment Park GEP at RAF Bruggen.

431 Maintenance Unit was reactivated on 1 October 1960 on the renaming of General Equipment Park at RAF Bruggen, 431 MU absorbed 317 Motor Transport Squadron in October 1962 and 420 MU at RAF Laarbruch and Forward Repair Unit at RAF Butzweilerhof in January 1967 to comprise two engineering Squadrons a Supply Squadron and a Headquarters Flight responsible for all large transport for the RAF in Germany including recovery and salvage of crashed aircraft battle damage repair major servicing of engines and airframes produced any signs required for RAF operations and maintained a regular winter survival camp in Bayern. The Ground Engineering Squadron incorporated Motor Transport Flight which undertook the road freight distribution for RAF Germany including the transport of weapons to and from 3 Base Ammuniton Depot BAD at Royal Army Ordnance Corps Bracht maintaining a large fleet of heavy vehicles that was assembled for the task.

With the drawdown of units from RAF Germany following the end of the Cold War 431 MU was disbanded on 31 March 1993 with a proportion of the Mechanical Transport Flight transferred to the RAF Bruggen Station MT.

431 MU Tornado Aircraft Engineering Flight provided fourth line engineering to RAF Germanys front line Tornado Squadrons from 1984.
