Following disbandment on 31 March 1992 58 Squadron RAF Regiment was reactivated at RAF Leuchars on 1 April 2010 under 6 FP Force Protection Wing to increase RAF Regiment  resources available for deployments overseas. The Squadron deployed to Camp Bastion Afghanistan in April 2011 with 6 FP providing Base protection returning in November 2011. 58 Squadron RAF Regiment and 6 Force Protection Wing disbanded on 10 May 2014 with the closure of RAF Leuchars.
