Squadron history 2007-2014
In January 2005 1115 Flight, was formed at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada USA to operate the RAFs first UAVs the MQ 9 Predator. 39 Squadron was reactivated in March 2007 to take over UAV operations with the former 1115 Flight with MQ 9s becoming A Flight, while B Flight were equipped with the MQ 9 Reaper. During November 2007 the Squadrons MQ 9 Reapers began operations in Afghanistan against the Taliban.
39 Squadron with their five Reapers relocated from Creech Air Force Base to RAF Waddington in 2013.
