Joint Helicopter Support Unit Germany JHSUG was a joint British Army and Royal Air Force organisation formed in the 1970s for deployment with 18 Squadron Chinooks and 230 Squadron Pumas to provide specialist underslung load support and landing site management in the field. Personnel were drawn from the Royal Corps of Transport RCT and Royal Army Ordnance Corps RAOC and the Royal Air Force. The RAF provide personnel from the Movements for their knowledge of internal loads and to act as an interface with the aircrew together with MT Tech and Clerical trade groups.
The JHSUG was inactivated in 1992 following the Gulf War and the drawdown of the helicopter units from Germany.
This patch dates from the 1980s.
