Squadron history 1965-2013

No 5 Army Cooperation AC Squadron moved to RAF Binbrook in 1965 with the English Electric Lightning interceptor until 1987 when it disbanded to be reformed at RAF Coningsby with the Tornado F3 and was the first RAF squadron accompanied by No 29 Squadron to be deployed as part the UKs contribution to the Gulf War. The Squadron disbanded in 2003 at RAF Coningsby.

Number 5 AC Squadron was reformed on 1st April 2004 at RAF Waddington operating the reconnaissance Sentinel R Mk1.
