601 Squadriglia 601 Flight was activated in May 1966 assigned to 1 Air Brigade equipped with AB 204 Huey helicopters to provide support to Italian Air Force Nike Hercules missile units based at Istrana AB. The Flight was absorbed by 561 Squadriglia on 1 July 1969. The Flight was reformed in the early 1980s with AB 204 helicopter and S 208M light aircraft and was again disbanded in 1998.
