The Wing comprises a Headquarters and three Groups namely Flying Group Technical Group and Aerodrome Group. Flying Group controls the two flying Squadrons of the Wing 431 and 432. Technical Group provides aircraft technical services including maintenance and repair weapons and ammunition survival equipment fuelling Aerodrome fire protection while Aerodrome Group provides non aeronautical activities and tasks including transportation supplies medical services Aerodrome security and defence runway and airfield repair.

The Wings 1 Staffel Squadron the Foxes became a member of The NATO Tigers Association in 1969 even though its emblem was a fox. 2 Staffel Squadron was named the Vikings.

LeKG 43 was reassigned to 3 Air Division in 1970 and 431 Staffel hosted the 1971 NATO Tiger Meet NTM at RAF Upper Heyford.

LeKG 43 was redesignated Jagdbombergeschwader Jabog 43 Fighter Bomber Wing 43 in 1980 when it reequipped with Alpha Jet aircraft to concentrate on light fighter bomber NATO tasking.
