History

Leichtes Kampfgeschwader LeKG 41 Light Combat Wing 41 was activated on 1 January 1966 at Husum AB equipped with G 91 Gina light attack aircraft on the redesignation of Jagdbombergeschwader Jabog 35 Fighter Bomber Wing 35 after adding reconnaissance to its fighter bomber. Lekg 41 continued the traditions and the black eagles head emblem of Jabog 35.

The Wing comprised a Headquarters and three Groups namely Flying Group Technical Group and Aerodrome Group. Flying Group controlled the Wings two flying Squadrons 411 Staffel and 412 Staffel. Technical Group provides aircraft technical services including maintenance and repair weapons and ammunition survival equipment fuelling Aerodrome fire protection while Aerodrome Group provides non-aeronautical activities and tasks including transportation supplies medical services Aerodrome security and defence runway and airfield repair.

LeKG 41 was assigned for NATO operations under Allied Forces Northern Europe AFNORTH took part in NATO training exercises and competitions including Bulls Eye Big Click and Tactical Fighter Weaponry.

LeKG 41 was redesignated Jagdbombergeschwader Jabog 41 Fighter Bomber Wing 41 in October 1980. retasked to concentrate on fighter bomber NATO operations structured as previously with its 411 and 412 flying Squadrons and all support activities.

Jabog 41 reequipped with Alpha Jets in 1982. The Wing disbanded on 31 March 1993.
