Regiment history

2 Division Aviation Regiment provided support for the British Army of the Rhine BAOR from 1969. The Regiment consisted of three AAC squadrons 652 Sqn AAC at Bundle 659 Sqn AAC at Osnabruck and 662 Sqn AAC at Munster who were attached to cavalry regiments as independent squadrons.

In 1976 the Regiment was renamed 2 Regiment Army Air Corps and lost 659 Sqn AAC which transferred 9 Regt AAC. In 1983 the Regiment was disbanded with 652 Sqn AAC going to 1 Regt AAC and 662 Sqn AAC becoming part of 3 Regt AAC.

2 Regiment was re-activated in 1994 as 2 Training Regiment Army Air Corps at Middle Wallop. The Regiment is responsible for all of the Army Air Corps ground Phase 2 and 3 training together with the Ground Support Commanders Course for officers and comprises two squadrons 676 Squadron phase 2 trainees at the Army Aviation Centre and 668 Training Squadron Groundcrew officers.
